Adria: pole, fastest lap and victory in the rain for Ivan Bellarosa

20/06/2010 – The fifth round of the Italian Prototypes Championship 2010 ended with a strong hat trick scored by Ivan Bellarosa, ruler of the Adria International Raceway.

The driver from Brescia, at the wheel of the Wolf GB08-Honda, got the spotlight starting on qualifying held on Saturday, when he obtained the pole position in 1’11.897.

The race was conditioned by heavy rain fallen on the track when cars were already on the grid and this made it necessary to delay the start by ten minutes. The race subsequently started under safety car but Bellarosa, followed by the other drivers, raised his hand to signal the impossibility to drive on the completely flooded track and the race was therefore red flagged.

At the restart, the driver from Brescia kept the first position from lights to flag establishing also the fastest lap of the race in 1’26.515.

Among the other Avelon drivers, Markia Diana scored a good fourth place, right at the feet of the podium, while Marco Visconti finished within the top ten respectively in ninth position. Gianluca Ripoli, twelfth and Guglielmo Belotti, thirteenth finished under the chequered flag too.

Bellarosa is now in the lead of the absolute classification with 71 points, four clear Davide Uboldi (Uboldi Corse); in class CN2 the driver from Brescia, author of five victories on five races, confirms his leadership with 50 points, followed by Marco Didaio (Osella Engineering) at 24.

Ivan Bellarosa:
“The pole position was a crucial premise to aim at the victory: on Saturday everything went in the best possible way and the race, despite weather conditions, confirmed my expectations. In the absolute classification roles are now inverted to our favour but I still believe that the fight for the title will be probably decided in the last race; the Wolf GB-08 confirms to match up rivals in the debut year and still has great potential still to be developed”.

The Italian Prototypes Championship will be back on track next 25 July at Mugello.
