VALLELUNGA: TWO WOLF ON THE PODIUM, BELLAROSA MORTGAGES THE TITLE

26/08/2010 – Double podium for the Wolf GB08 at the end of the eighth round of the Italian Prototypes Championship.

Ivan Bellarosa set the second absolute best lap-time in 1’32.119 on Saturday during qualifying but he was voluntarily slowed down by Davide Uboldi (Uboldi Corse) in his last attempt, when he had the chance to obtain the pole.

In the race, the driver from Brescia kept the starting position and in several occasions he tried to push harder, setting in this way the fastest lap of the race. There has not been a concrete chance of getting the lead and the second final place, together with precious points for the championship, awarded the leader of the absolute classification the eighth success on eight races in class CN2. This result made closer what could be an historic hat trick at the end of the season.

As regarding the other Avelon drivers, Marco Visconti obtained the podium, as he finished third under the chequered flag, while Gianluca Ripoli ended twelfth.

In the absolute classification, Bellarosa keeps the leadership and is now at 108 points, six clear of his closest opponent.

It has to be signaled a specious complaint was lodged by the rival Uboldi Corse against Bellarosa’s single seater and the results of Vallelunga will therefore be under judgment even after the fianl round of the season scheduled for 3 October at Monza.

Ivan Bellarosa:
“The outcome of the race was decided in qualifying, probably in the nasty anti-sportive episode at Campagnano corner by my title rival. The complaint that was filed is almost incredible: a protest on the internal button of the fire extinguisher, on safety stickers and on other similar details I believe verges on the ridicule”.
