Ivan Bellarosa wins the absolute title in the Italian Prototypes 2010 Championship
03/10/2010 – After obtaining mathematically the CN2 class title at Mugello three races in advance, the final round at Monza awarded Ivan Bellarosa with the title of absolute winner of the Italian Prototypes 2010 Championship.
The driver from Brescia, author of the pole position, in the race got the lead since the beginning and accumulated in the initial laps more than eight seconds of advantage. The safety car deployment vanished all his efforts and at the restart he was pushed down to second at the first chicane. The position was useful for the title anyway and it was kept without taking risks until the chequered flag.
Quite remarkable are the numbers of Bellarosa’s success, who was taking the revolutionary Wolf GB08-Honda to the debut this year: in the nine rounds run, he has always started from the first row and three times from the pole position; he obtained two victories, seven second places, five fastest laps of the race and 122 classification points, five clear of his closest rival.
CN2 figures are even more impressive: a historic hat trick proves an almost undisputed supremacy. Bellarosa ended the season with the victory and pole position in all of the nine rounds, which took him to obtain the title with 90 points, the highest score available.
“The Wolf GB08 has been designed since the beginning to be a winning car and competitive even compared to CN4 cars. Since the shakedown of the first exemplar, last winter, the validity of the project emerged and the subsequent development done throughout the season followed the schedule without particular problems.
Results on track have been thrilling and in July we obtained the CN2 title, a class where our car has immediately became the landmark. The fight for the absolute title has been more tight and we are proud of achieving this more prestigious success too, which awards the hard work done by the whole team during the year”.
