Wolf Racing Cars welcomes LP Racing
07/11/2015 – The family of Wolf teams is getting bigger as it is welcoming LP Racing, a brand new team funded by the driver and entrepreneur Luca Pirri.
In the past few weeks the team has completed the purchase of a Wolf GB08, the car on which the works driver Ivan Bellarosa Wolf set nineteen pole positions and secured sixteen wins. The car has been delivered to the team at the end of October after a short shakedown held in Franciacorta, where Pirri and Bellarosa swapped behind the wheel. The team will have to wait a bit longer for the delivery of the second challenger that is scheduled before the end of the year. The team is currently deciding where to base its logistic base.
Sporting programmes of LP Racing include the debut at the 6 hours of Rome, scheduled for 15 November, before facing the 2016 Italian Prototypes Championship and the Endurance Champions Cup.
Giovanni Bellarosa (Wolf Racing Cars, General Manager):
“Luca Pirri has given a fundamental contribution to award Wolf with the ECC title in this season and we are proud of his decision to fund his own team using Wolf cars. All our encouragement goes to LP Racing and our best wishes to achieve very ambitious results soon”.
Luca Pirri (LP Racing, team principal):
“We welcome this new reality with great excitement. The Wolf GB08 is a car that delivers a high level driving experience, close to that of LMP2 prototypes and also to the new LMP3, and therefore is a mandatory step to enter into professional endurance racing acquiring some experience also in 24 hours long races, while keeping costs down. We have a double objective: from the one side we want to provide young drivers with the chance of training on a real racing car at very effective conditions, while on the other side we want to be strong in those championships and single races we decide to take part in, hoping to move to ELMS in a not too far off future and then, who knows, even to FIA WEC”.
